Anti-Sportmatic

What is it about sports that draw the emotion out of fans like no other thing on earth? What is it that forces them to scream at the television, jump and high five, cuss out a referee, throw beer all over the living room and truly make them unbearable to be around when their team loses?

What is it about sports that can cause a 250 pound trucker, a seasoned fireman, or a high-powered CEO to break down and nearly cry when they witness the 50 yard pass completion with no time left on the clock to end their team’s season?

Saying that sports are a powerful and influential activity would be an incredible understatement, at least if you were speaking with a sports fan.

But what if you are not a sports fan? What if the idea of all the things mentioned above makes you laugh or question the sanity of someone who reacts in such a way? Well then you might be, what I call, an anti-sportmatic.

Now we have all known these anti-sportmatics in our lives. Bosses, that always seemed to catch you when you were checking out your fantasy football and reprimanded you for it. Dates that got bored in the 5th inning at Wrigley Field, and whined until you would leave. Or, and this one is a common one, your girlfriend or spouse, who thinks devoting four hours to watch your college football team take on Texas is an utter waste of time.

These anti-sportmatics exist in all areas and walks of life. This blog, is not for them. This blog is for the die hard fan who names their child after their NFL team’s running back. This blog is for the Green Bay Packer fan that fared the -5 degree weather to watch Brett Favre throw three interceptions against the Vikings. This blog, is for the fan that lives, breathes, and exists to see the next big game.

The reason I structured this article in this way, is because this blog will be devoted to all things sports. All about the issues, challenges, successes and inner workings of what is going on in all of sports. ESPN does a great job of reporting on scores and stats. Here, we can explore everything that makes sports such an integral piece to so many people. Any topic, any idea, any perspective and any insight you can develop, WRITE ABOUT IT HERE!.

This is going to be fun, right now is a great time for sports, so let’s get to talking!
